Doctor Who Season 14 Will Be Aired Next Year
Following Jodie Whittaker’s farewell appearance as the Thirteenth Doctor and that eagerly awaited and extremely surprising regeneration, the BBC has specified exactly when we can expect new episodes, featuring our very first glance of Ncuti Gatwa in action as the future Doctor.

Fans will regrettably have to wait a very long time. The 60th-anniversary specials, which will include David Tennant and Catherine Tate, two well-liked stars by audiences, will air in November 2023.
Gatwa’s first full episode as the Doctor in 2023 will follow, airing over the holiday season.

The return of Russell T. Davies to his role as showrunner signals the beginning of a new Doctor, as is customary with a handover. They had expected the disclosure to come in Jodie Whittaker’s swan song.

Working with Russell T. Davies is a dream come true because he is almost as well-known as the Doctor. His prose is vibrant, captivating, brilliant, and bursting with danger. A metaphorical stage for actors.
“Every member of the team has been incredibly friendly and supportive of the show. So, even though it’s intimidating, I know I’m a part of a family that will support me. I may only have one heart, unlike the Doctor, but I am giving it my all for this show.
Although the rest of the new season 14 cast has not yet been formally announced, some fan favorites, including the Doctor himself, might end up appearing in a different role. That includes Jo Martin, a character we’ve already seen and who could easily assume the part of the Fugitive Doctor.
One name that keeps coming up is Olly Alexander. Olly had a part in a Doctor Who spinoff when he was on that show, and he was also intimately affiliated with Davies because of It’s a Sin. It wouldn’t be hard to make him a new friend or maybe just give him a caustic guest part.
Just before Ncuti spoke, Mandip Gill said that Yaz might return to the show at some point. On BBC’s The One Show, the actress was questioned about if the centenary special would be Yaz’s last appearance.
It will belong to me. Well, not forever—in Doctor Who, you never know! However, [Yaz’s narrative] does not finish there for all time because… who knows? Observe what I just did. Actress commented.

Few could have predicted that this decision would result in the most adored showrunner of Doctor Who returning to the series years after his initial departure. Russell offered the following insight:
“I’m ecstatic to be back on my favorite program. But we’re moving through time too quickly. I have the entire Jodie Whittaker-starring Doctor Who series to look forward to, directed by my good friend and hero Chris Chibnall. For now, I’m still a watcher.
Regarding his replacement, Chibnall said: “It’s monumentally exciting and fitting that one of Britain’s screenwriting jewels will return home for Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary. To receive the baton back, Russell constructs it.
Everyone in the globe, including Doctor Who, the BBC, the Welsh movie sector, and let’s face it, everyone else, has a lot to be excited about.
However, when it was discovered that Bad Wolf will take over from BBC Studios as the show’s producer, potentially costing the BBC ÂŁ40 million for every 10 episodes produced, fans became apprehensive. Recently, the BBC contested this and made it clear that they would continue to maintain commercial oversight. It’s significant to note that Bad Wolf would be in charge of “creative direction” according to The Times’ article.
“We have a ton of excitement about Doctor Who’s future. The show will ultimately be delivered by BBC Studios, and this production relationship is about the long-term commitment that will significantly increase the franchise’s and the show’s already enormous global success, according to a BBC representative.
We can only hope that Russell will continue to inject his unique aesthetic into the show, perhaps even giving us more positive LGBTQ+ content than Doctor Who has ever offered. Hinting is insufficient to prove that Yaz and the Doctor had a queer romance in the Flux finale. Furthermore, the final episode starring Jodie Whittaker didn’t really advance this.
The time has come for Doctor Who to feature a homosexual doctor in order to stay current. We wouldn’t be surprised if Russell took this opportunity to make Ncuti’s Doctor a lesbian in light of this.

A thrilling trailer has now offered fans a preview of what will be released next year.
Naturally, it provided the public with their first glimpse of Ncuti Gatwa in action, with a brief clip of the new Doctor fervently yelling, “Will someone explain to me what the heck is going on here?”
Russell T. Davies has also announced that Ncuti will serve as the fifteenth Doctor after David Tennant’s return to the role due to regeneration.
