On December 2, a 5-year-old child was assaulted by an angry raccoon while waiting for the school bus outside her home in Ashford, Connecticut.
Logan MacNamara’s home security camera caught the terrifying moment her daughter, Rylee, was bitten. She told Storyful that her daughter went outside to wait for the bus while the raccoon sat on the porch.
The raccoon soon latches onto Rylee’s leg, causing her to scream and shake the animal off. MacNamara rushes to her daughter’s aid, catching the animal by the scruff of the neck. She is able to remove it and can be seen holding both the raccoon and her daughter at one point. When her daughter enters, she tosses the animal into her yard, where it can be seen waddling away.
“I hurried to check what was wrong when I heard her cry. I assumed she had slammed her hand in the door, but I was not expecting to see a raccoon attack her “According to MacNamara. “I wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly what occurred if I didn’t have the footage since it all happened so fast.”

She told Storyful Rylee that she had a few puncture wounds and that they both had scratches, but that they were fine. Rylee, who generally wears leggings, was wearing jeans, which she believes helped keep her from being gravely harmed.
According to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, MacNamara verified they went to the hospital and that the doctor’s major concern was rabies because the raccoon was out during the day and quite aggressive, both of which are symptoms of the viral disease.
Despite the fact that they have not been able to locate the raccoon to test it for rabies, she stated that they will be receiving rabies shots in the coming weeks.
