Tears Of The Kingdom Release Date: Plot, Pre-Orders, Trailer And Much More

It’s almost time for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, formerly The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. Nintendo pushed back the game’s release date from its original 2022 target to the first half of 2023 before deciding on it.

Tears of the Kingdom is the follow-up to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and it has a tremendously difficult (and possibly impossible) task ahead of it. How can you enhance a game that was practically perfect?

While the answer to that won’t be known until the game is released, we actually do know a lot about Tears of the Kingdom. We know when the game will launch, how to get your hands on a copy right now, and several important plot points. The release date, pre-order details, trailers, and more for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are detailed in the following paragraphs.

Tears Of The Kingdom Release Date

Start with a simple question. The release date for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is May 12, 2023. The Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED models will all support the game.

The game’s release date has fluctuated a lot over the last few years. Nintendo initially stated that the game will be released in 2022. Tears of the Kingdom was then postponed to the spring of 2023 by the corporation. The business ultimately provided a precise release date for the game during a Nintendo Direct in September. The only thing left to do is wait for it to launch.

Tears Of The Kingdom Pre-Orders

You won’t have to look very far to find pre-orders for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Most of the usual suspects, including Amazon (opens in new tab), Best Buy (opens in new tab), and GameStop, currently offer pre-orders for the game (opens in new tab). Simply search for Tears of the Kingdom to check if it appears you’d rather purchase your electronics from a different retailer. If not now, it certainly will shortly.

The one exception is that Tears of the Kingdom cannot yet be pre-ordered through the Nintendo eShop. But since there is always a supply of digital items, this is not really a concern. Although you can probably pre-order the game digitally, if all else fails, you can just start playing on May 12.

Tears Of The Kingdom Release Date

One potential issue with pre-ordering The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a possible collector’s edition. Fans have questioned whether Nintendo intends to issue a deluxe collector’s edition for the game that comes with all the usual trinkets, such as an art book, a statue, some stickers, and possibly a unique steel bookcase, etc. on Reddit and other websites.

For what it’s worth, the first Breath of the Wild had a collector’s edition that came with a Switch carrying case, a wall map, a soundtrack CD, and the game itself. Additionally, when Nintendo revealed the release date for Tears of the Kingdom, that would have been a good time to also reveal a collector’s edition, but we didn’t hear anything about one.

Beyond that, we don’t have any unique knowledge about this issue. You might wish to wait to pre-order the ordinary edition of Tears of the Kingdom if you believe Nintendo will release a collector’s edition of the game. Otherwise, feel free to do a pre-order or simply wait for the digital edition.

Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer

There are a few trailers for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, all of which can be found on Nintendo of America‘s official YouTube channel. You’ll need to search for “Breath of the Wild 2” or “Breath of the Wild Sequel” if you want older trailers because “Tears of the Kingdom” is only a recent subtitle.

The most recent teaser, titled “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Coming May 12th, 2023 – Nintendo Switch,” was released in September 2022. Although there is a sizable portion of gameplay in the center, the game is generally quiet, including numerous ancient artworks and evocative music. If you want to take a minute and a half to view it for yourself, we’ve embedded it below:

Nintendo is likely to release at least one more big trailer before the game’s May 12 release date because it is still a while away. If and when that one is released, we’ll post it.

Tears Of The Kingdom Plot

The plot of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is still mostly unknown, despite the fact that the game has at least three trailers. So far, we’ve seen Link and Zelda investigating a sinister collection of ruins Link flying over islands, and a wicked force sweeping throughout Hyrule.

All we can say with certainty is that Tears of the Kingdom follows Breath of the Wild directly, which is unusual in the Zelda canon. The majority of Zelda games are stand-alone, connected more by mythical concepts and recurring legendary objects than by particular people or places. At the conclusion of Breath of the Wild, Link and Zelda resolved to embark on a new adventure, and it appears that Tears of the Kingdom will begin with them doing just that.

If you haven’t played Breath of the Wild, you should consider how amazing it is and how Tears of the Kingdom will instantly follow it.

However, if you need a reminder: After being in suspended animation for 100 years, Link reawakens to discover that Calamity Ganon is a threat to all of Hyrule and that Zelda’s ability to protect the land is waning. In order to defeat Calamity Ganon once and for all, Link must next tour the globe, solve 120 tricky puzzle Shrines, reawaken the four Divine Beasts, and regain Master Sword.

Zelda fans are obviously quite eager about the upcoming installment in this illustrious series because the gap between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom was the longest we’ve ever gone without a new Zelda game. New information will be added when it becomes available on this page.
